Man, throughout history
has spent his days exploring new frontiers
in the quest for immortality,
timeless youth and unending pleasures.

Billions go into space exploration
and into the sciences in search of
what each prior generation has failed
to attain.

The past is often times revisited
in an attempt to restore
the glory of former generations
that ironically longed for better days.

Great strides have indeed taken place
since time began
and many milestones have been reached,
yet man has failed to find utopia.

Generations come and go;
the masses find their time up
and life only a vapor that soon passes away,
leaving behind no real heritage for loved ones
nor any significant mark on mankind.

For those whose journeys
have not yet ended, memories,
whether good or bad,
seem to be the only thing we can take with us
as proof of our pasts.

Life is short
with many broken promises and dreams
gone unfulfilled.

In an effort to fill the void,
to deal with the here and now,
so many have adopted or created
some kind of religion or philosophy in hopes
of finding inner peace and to make sense
of this world of turmoil
in which we live.

But sadly to say,
this is not enough.

After doing so
and watching others do the same,
many are left even more devastated
because they have yet to find
what they are searching for.
